Assistant Professor Marcie Cowley holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in Russian and Spanish and a Juris Doctor degree for law. Her PhD is in history with a major field in Russian and Soviet history, and other fields in modern European history and migration studies.
When not teaching on MSU’s beautiful campus, she has focused in recent years on developing and leading education abroad and domestic study away programs. Her background with education abroad dates to her high school and undergraduate college years, including spending her senior year of high school as a Rotary exchange student in The Netherlands and various college programs in Italy, Spain, Russia and the United Kingdom. She has been a faculty leader and instructor on education abroad programs to France, Belgium, China and Belize, and a co-leader and instructor on domestic study away programs to Las Vegas, Nevada (together with Dr. Eddie Boucher) and Chicago, Illinois (together with Maya Craft and Angela Magbag).
