Assistant Professor Stacy Smith holds a BA in Psychology (1991) and English (1992) from Wichita State University, an MA (1995) in English Literature, Composition, and Rhetoric, and a PhD in Sociology (2017), both from Kansas State University.  Prior to coming to MSU in 2019, she taught English Composition and Literature courses for many years at Universities in Kansas, and sociology courses in Kansas, South Carolina, and Alabama. She teaches interdisciplinary courses in inequality, gender, culture, and social psychology, with an emphasis on engaging student integration of learning into their lived experience. She has recently published extensively on the effect of COVID-19 on institutions, culture, and particularly on higher education.
